Developing a Sustainable Web Portal for POF community in India – Dissertation Work

Dear Friends:
My name is Lakshmi Iyer, I am from India. I was diagnosed as a POFer when I was 15 years old. I am 26 years old now. I am looking at developing a web portal for the POF community in India. I have chosen this as my topic of dissertation towards fulfilling my Masters degree in M.Sc International Marketing at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. The idea behind this is to lay down the groundwork.

As part of this project, I am looking at profiling the Indian POFer vis-à-vis her Western counterpart. This would help me understand what needs to be different in a portal which is targeting the Indian woman.
I am looking for 25 volunteers who would be willing to share their experiences with me in terms of when you were diagnosed, the immediate feeling post diagnosis, how you coped, how you related to the society in which you lived post diagnosis, what was the role of your physician, how you discovered www.pofsupport.org and how POF support group has changed your perspective and outlook.

By participating in this, you would be helping me build a case to show the community and governmental organizations as to why we need a support group in India where there are no support systems of any sort.

I plan to carry out these interviews in the months of June-July 2001. My email address is lakshmi.iyer@strath.ac.uk and my telephone number is 00-44-78-555-171-94. You can also get in touch with my supervisor Dr.Maureen Berry at m.berry@strath.a.c.uk if you want to find out more about the relevance of this in my Course work.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Warm regards,
Lakshmi

Ps: If any Indian POFer also comes across this, please get in touch with me. lakshmi.iyer@strath.ac.uk
