Dr. Lawrence Nelson was presented with the Art of Listening Award at the June 2001 People’s Genome Celebration sponsored by the Genetic Alliance for his work with the Premature Ovarian Failure Support Group and research study participants. The Art of Listening Award was created to focus attention on
the importance of caring, receptive professionals in the lives of individuals and families living with genetic conditions and increasing awareness of listening as an invaluable key to understanding and helping. This award celebrates service providers who take the time to listen and understand, thus profoundly easing the difficult, often frustrating journey faced by families dealing with the uncertainties and ambiguities of a genetic diagnosis. and isn’t this exaclty what Dr. Nelson does!

The Endocrine Nurses Society presented us with a grant of $1500 at the June 2001 Endocrine Society confernece to assist us in the completion of our Stories by POF book. they said they realized this was just a small amount of the total cost and that it was an ambitious project but they wanted to show
their support of a great undertaking.
