Endless
POFibilities -- June 2000
Summer!!! Yay?? UGH??
Summer can be a difficult time to be dealing with POF and
not knowing if/when/how you'll have children of your own –
your best friend's kids are suddenly home all day, your sister
just got married and found out she's pregnant, and your favorite
park is suddenly overrun with t-ball and tennis lessons. What's
a girl with POF to do? EVERYTHING!
It's all about YOU. Take 15 minutes and think about what
you enjoy most about the summer. What have you always wanted
to do? Learn? Where have you wanted to go? Then read my list
of ideas below and write a "10 Things I WILL do this
Summer" contract with yourself! (NOTE: staying indoors,
being depressed, or watching television are not acceptable!)
- Sign up for a gourmet cooking class at the community college
- Go to a poetry reading at the local bookstore or library
- Plant veggies in your garden and watch them grow all
summer
- Attend an outdoor concert of your favorite band from
your high school days
- Go for a midnight cruise (if you live near water) with
your significant other
- Make a gourmet meal and surprise your significant other
with a late night candlelit dinner on the porch
- Go camping in the mountains or white water rafting with
another couple
- Take a roadtrip. ANYWHERE
- Stop cooking indoors for a week. Grill EVERYTHING! Be
creative!
- Pick flowers from your garden for every room in your
house
- Find an adult nudist beach and be free! (if you dare!)
- Start a walking club and stick with it
- Make reservations at a fancy outdoor restaurant for the
4th of July
- Go to an amusement park after dark
- Lay on the grass under the stars and find the Big Dipper
- Give yourself a facial
- Volunteer! For a political cause, a senior center, a
literacy program, a soup kitchen
- Go bowling on a Saturday night with a group of friends
- Find someone to teach your favorite talent to (singing,
playing instruments, rollerblading, etc)
- Be a tourist for a day in your own town
- Take your photography seriously! Take at least 5 pictures
a week and put together a Summer of 2000 photo album to
share on Labor Day
- Start a journal. For every negative entry, there must
be a positive one
- Share a bottle of wine with a girl friend and talk about
your favorite times together
- Go to a baseball game and actually sing the national
anthem
- Record your deepest thoughts and fears. Lock away til
next year
- Make mix cds for your friends and give them as "just
for being you" gifts all summer
What's your TOP 10?
Best wishes for a peaceful and joyous Summer! –Jackie
